About

Hello and welcome to Newstoa India, a community blog of the Newstoa members in India. We are not officially a part of Newstoa.com, but individually, all our members are registered as members of the Newstoa Registry.

What is this site?

Newstoa India is an unofficial gathering place for the practitioners of Stoicism in and around India, although anyone can join the cause. It is a noncommercial, hobby-driven initiative, initially conceived by founding members Anirban Chatterjee and H. Rim Shah, and recognized by John Laerum, the regional director for India (among other east and south Asian nations).

Currently, this group blog (powered by Blogger) serves as the central repository for our thoughts and ideas, which we attempt to summarize in the form of periodic posts. The special focus is on Stoicism, an ancient philosophical system of self-help, developed by the Hellenistic philosopher Zeno of Citium, as a ready reference tool for solving our daily problems and prospering simultaneously. We shall presume an introductory level of familiarity with Stoicism on the reader's part.

Why Newstoa India

The salient reasons behind this initiative are as follows:

1. To serve as a shared platform for, by and of the Indian practitioners of Stoicism.

2. To propagate Stoic teachings in India, and generate valuable content on the philosophy for the Indian and international audience alike.
